Let Us Not Be Weary

Part Two · Breaking Up · 1 minute read

← The Fallow

“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”
Galatians 6:9

The Ground

Paul closes this second movement’s arc with an honest acknowledgment: well doing, the actual work of breaking up ground and pursuing faithfulness, genuinely produces weariness. He does not pretend the process is easy or quickly rewarding. He simply insists that fainting, giving up entirely, is not the answer to that real weariness.

Notice the promise attached: in due season we shall reap. Not immediately, not on your own preferred timeline, but in due season, an appointed time that the one doing the sowing does not control but can trust. The weariness of breaking and sowing is real, and it is not the final word. A due season is coming.

This bridges directly into the sowing this book’s final movement will explore. The ground has been named, examined, broken, given new heart. Now the specific danger is growing weary in the ongoing work this breaking requires, tempted to faint before the due season this verse promises actually arrives.

As this movement closes, do not let weariness talk you into fainting now, this close to whatever due season is still ahead. The breaking has been real work. Do not let it be wasted work by giving up just before what it was preparing you for finally begins.

Tend the Ground

  • Name honestly where weariness has been tempting you to faint in this process.
  • Recommit today to well doing, trusting the due season rather than your own timeline.
  • Do not let real weariness talk you into abandoning work this close to its season.

Prayer

Lord, I am weary in this well doing. Keep me from fainting now, this close to the due season you have promised. Let the breaking not be wasted work. Amen.

Carry this today

Do not faint this close to the due season.
