“Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling.”
The Body
Thirty days ago this book began with not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, the first gathering step of a much longer arc. It closes here, with unity of the Spirit, one body, one Spirit, one hope, the same themes this whole book has traced across gathering, sharpening, and sending, now named together in their fullest, most complete form.
Notice endeavouring, an active, ongoing verb, not describing unity as automatic or effortless, but as something requiring continued, deliberate effort, keeping what could otherwise be lost, the bond of peace genuinely maintained rather than simply assumed to persist without any ongoing, intentional work.
Look back over these thirty days, gathered, sharpened, sent, and notice they were never really three separate stages, but one continuous, ongoing work, the same community, first gathered, then sharpened through genuine friction and honest confession, then sent outward, all of it endeavouring toward this same unity of the Spirit, in the bond of peace.
You began this book learning not to forsake assembling. You end it here, endeavouring, still, to keep the unity this whole book has been building toward, one body, one Spirit, one hope, carried forward not as a finished project, but as ongoing, faithful work, in whatever fellowship remains yours to gather, sharpen, and send, one day at a time.
Strengthen the Body
- Write down the single truth from these thirty days that most reshaped how you see community.
- Name one specific way you will keep endeavouring toward unity, past this book’s final page.
- Tell one person this week something true about fellowship you did not know a month ago.
Prayer
Lord, let me keep endeavouring to preserve the unity of the Spirit, in the bond of peace, one body, one Spirit, one hope, carried forward as ongoing, faithful work. Amen.
Carry this today
Gathered, sharpened, and sent, one continuous, ongoing endeavour toward unity.
One Body, One Spirit
Thirty days ago you began with a simple call: not forsaking the assembling of yourselves together.
You know now: the sharpening was not damage. The sending was always the point.
Whatever fellowship is yours to gather, sharpen, and send, you do not carry it alone. Keep endeavouring. The unity of the Spirit is worth keeping.
Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling.
