Well Done

← The First

“His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.”
Matthew 25:21

The Treasure

This is the master’s response to the servant who faithfully invested what had been entrusted to him, and it is worth noticing the specific commendation given: faithful over a few things, not merely successful over abundant things. The servant’s faithfulness with a relatively small entrustment is what actually earns this commendation, not the raw scale of what was managed.

Notice the promise attached: I will make thee ruler over many things. Faithfulness with the few things entrusted now is described as the actual pathway toward greater entrustment later, not a separate, unrelated track from eventual advancement, but genuinely, directly connected, small faithfulness producing larger opportunity.

This is worth holding as genuine encouragement for whatever small, seemingly insignificant stewardship currently occupies your own life, resources that may feel too modest to matter much. This parable insists otherwise, small faithfulness genuinely mattering, genuinely connected to whatever larger stewardship might eventually follow.

Consider today the few things currently entrusted to you, however modest they may feel, and steward them today with the same faithfulness this servant modeled, trusting this parable’s promise that such faithfulness genuinely matters, connected directly to whatever larger entrustment and eventual joy of thy lord may yet follow.

Steward the Treasure

  • Name the few things currently entrusted to you, however modest they may feel.
  • Steward them today with genuine faithfulness, trusting this parable’s connection to what follows.
  • Anticipate today the well done this parable promises for genuine, small faithfulness.

Prayer

Lord, let me be faithful over the few things currently entrusted to me, trusting your promise that such faithfulness genuinely matters and leads toward what follows. Amen.

Carry this today

Small faithfulness is directly connected to larger entrustment.
