A Way to Escape

Part Three · Walking in the Spirit · 1 minute read

← The Flesh

“There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”
1 Corinthians 10:13

The Battle

Paul names common to man here, worth examining directly, worth holding as needed comfort against whatever isolation your own particular temptation has produced, this specific struggle named as genuinely, honestly shared, not uniquely, isolatedly yours alone but common, actually experienced by others too.

Notice a way to escape, worth holding as this verse’s own genuine, practical promise, not merely enduring temptation indefinitely, but this described, actual way out, worth trusting as genuinely, actively provided, not something you must somehow, independently discover or manufacture entirely on your own.

This is worth applying practically today, worth considering what this promised way to escape might actually, concretely look like in your own specific, current temptation, worth examining whether you have been genuinely looking for it, or simply, passively enduring without actively, deliberately seeking this described way out.

Whatever temptation currently, genuinely presses upon you, trust today this verse’s own promise, God faithful, providing a way to escape, worth actively, deliberately looking for this described way, not passively enduring alone but trusting this provision as genuinely, actually available right now.

Walk in the Spirit

  • Trust today that your own temptation is genuinely common, not uniquely, isolatedly yours alone.
  • Actively look for the way to escape this verse promises, not passively enduring without seeking it.
  • Take this way today, specifically, trusting it as genuinely, actually provided, not merely theoretical.

Prayer

Lord, no temptation has taken me but such as is common to man. You are faithful, and you have made a way to escape. Let me actively find and take it today. Amen.

Carry this today

A genuine way to escape is actively provided, worth actively seeking, not passively enduring alone.
