O Taste and See

← The Feast

“O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.”
Psalm 34:8

The Feast

This verse invites something worth noticing directly: taste and see, sensory, experiential language, not merely intellectual assent to a true proposition about God’s goodness, but actual, personal experience of it, tasted and seen directly, not merely believed abstractly from a safe, untested distance.

This is worth applying to how you approach remembrance itself. It is possible to remember God’s past faithfulness merely as historical fact, true but somewhat abstract, without actually, freshly tasting and seeing his goodness again in the present moment, the difference between remembering a fact and actually re-experiencing its reality.

This invitation, taste and see, suggests remembrance at its best is not merely backward-looking recollection, but a doorway into fresh, present experience, actually tasting God’s goodness again now, not merely recalling that it was once tasted at some point in the past, now safely filed away as settled history.

Consider today one specific way you might actually taste and see God’s goodness afresh, not merely recall that you once believed it, but genuinely, freshly experience it again, in this present moment, the way this psalm invites, blessed is the man that trusteth in him, actively, presently, not merely historically.

Keep the Feast

  • Identify one way to actually taste and see God’s goodness afresh today, not merely recall it.
  • Move from abstract belief toward fresh, present experience in one specific area.
  • Trust him actively today, not merely remembering that you once trusted him in the past.

Prayer

Lord, let me taste and see your goodness fresh today, not merely recall that I once believed it. Let remembrance be a doorway into present experience, not only history. Amen.

Carry this today

Taste and see, presently, not merely recall abstractly.
