Groanings Which Cannot Be Uttered

Part Three · Dawn · 1 minute read

← The Fog

“Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what to pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.”
Romans 8:26

The Fog

Paul names something worth holding directly, we know not what to pray for as we ought, worth examining this honest admission, even genuine prayer itself sometimes, actually failing to find adequate words, worth recognizing this same, honest limitation in your own attempts at prayer within genuine fog.

Notice the Spirit itself maketh intercession, worth holding as genuine relief, this whole burden of adequate, correct prayer not resting entirely on your own capacity, but this described, active help, the Spirit’s own groanings supplementing whatever your own words genuinely, actually fail to reach.

This is worth applying against whatever pressure has made you feel your own inadequate, honest prayers must somehow be genuinely insufficient, rather than this verse’s own promise, the Spirit itself actively, genuinely interceding precisely where your own words honestly, actually fall short.

Whatever prayer currently feels genuinely inadequate, beyond what you know how to properly express, receive today this verse’s own promise, the Spirit itself groaning on your behalf, worth trusting as genuine, actual help, not requiring your own words alone to somehow, sufficiently carry this whole burden.

Walk Through the Fog

  • Notice honestly where your own prayer has felt inadequate, beyond what you know how to express.
  • Receive today the Spirit’s own active intercession as genuine, actual help.
  • Trust that inadequate words do not disqualify genuine prayer, since the Spirit intercedes beyond them.

Prayer

Lord, I know not what to pray for as I ought, but let your Spirit intercede with groanings which cannot be uttered, trusting this genuine help beyond my own inadequate words. Amen.

Carry this today

The Spirit intercedes where your own words fail, genuine help beyond inadequate prayer.
