Marriage Is Honourable

Part Three · Harvest · 1 minute read

← The Vineyard

“Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.”
Hebrews 13:4

The Vine

This verse states plainly what a culture often treats with either casual dismissal or embarrassed silence: marriage is honourable, and specifically, the bed undefiled, the physical intimacy within marriage named directly as clean, good, honorable, not something requiring apology or quiet avoidance within a genuinely covenant relationship.

This is worth stating directly because many marriages carry unspoken shame or awkwardness around physical intimacy that scripture itself does not share. The bed undefiled is not a grudging permission or a necessary evil tolerated for the sake of children. It is named, alongside marriage itself, as honourable, worth actual honor, not embarrassed silence.

This harvest movement has traced companionship, covenant, spoken praise, mutual belonging. Physical intimacy belongs in this same harvest, a genuine, honored fruit of the covenant this whole book has described, not separate from the spiritual and relational depth the rest of the marriage has been cultivating, but woven into it.

Whatever shame, distance, or neglect has crept into this particular part of your marriage, receive today what this verse states plainly. It is honourable. It is undefiled, within the covenant you have kept. Let that be received with the same honor scripture itself gives it, not quiet embarrassment.

Tend the Vine

  • Notice any shame or distance that has crept into physical intimacy in your marriage.
  • Receive this part of your marriage today as honourable, the way scripture names it.
  • Take one step today to close distance in this area, without embarrassment.

Prayer

Lord, thank you that marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled. Remove any shame or distance that has crept in, and let us receive this as the gift you named it. Amen.

Carry this today

Honourable, not something to carry quiet shame over.
