The Fruit

Read this the way you would tend an orchard you expect to outlive you: patient, willing to wait seasons for what the root is quietly doing before any fruit becomes visible.

For the next thirty days you are going to look honestly at raising children: what it costs, what it requires day after ordinary day, and what it actually produces when it is tended faithfully across real years. This will not be a study that promises a formula guaranteeing outcomes. It takes the whole arc seriously, root before branch, branch before harvest.

The work is arranged in three movements of ten days each. First, Root: the foundation, both in the parent’s own heart and in the child being raised. Then, Branch: the daily, ongoing work of teaching, correction, and modeling. Then, Harvest: the fruit faithful parenting produces, often much later, and often further than any single season can show you.

Each day gives you the same tools. A verse to anchor you. A short reflection to be read slowly, not skimmed. A response to actually live out with your actual children, because truth you only agree with changes little at your own dinner table. A prayer to pray in your own words. And one line to carry with you into the day ahead.

How to use it: read one day at a time, unhurried, in order if you can. Let the reflection meet your actual family, not an idealized version of it. Actually do the response. Pray the prayer, then keep praying in your own words.
