A Thirty Day Harvest

The Field

Work, Calling, and the Worship of Ordinary Labor

Begin Day 1 ↓

Thirty Days · Three Seasons

Thirty days of hard, honest, biblical work for the one who labors with their hands.

This is not about getting more done. It is about what your work is actually for.

For the next thirty days you are going to look honestly at ordinary labor: where it came from, what excellence in it actually looks like, and why rest is not a betrayal of it. This will not shame you for working hard, and it will not praise hustle for its own sake. It is about the worship hidden inside the ordinary.

The work is arranged in three movements of ten days each. First, the Labor: the dignity and origin of work, given before anything broke. Then, the Excellence: what it looks like to actually do the work well, faithfully, with integrity when no one is watching. Then, the Rest: sabbath, contentment, and the labor that outlasts you.

Each day gives you the same tools. A verse to anchor you. A short reflection to be read slowly, not skimmed. A response to actually live out at your actual desk, bench, or field, because truth you only agree with changes little on Monday morning. A prayer to pray in your own words. And one line to carry with you into the work ahead.

How to use it: read one day before your work begins, unhurried, in order if you can. Let the reflection meet your actual labor, not an idealized version of it. Actually do the response. Pray the prayer, then keep praying in your own words through the day.

All Scripture here is from the King James Version. Your work matters more than you think, and less than you fear. Begin.

“And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men.” Colossians 3:23
